Lateral?Torsional Buckling of beams with warping restraints at Supports

چکیده
In practice, the elastic lateral-torsional buckling of doubly symmetric I-section steel members is analyzed assuming free warping at supports. However, welded stiffeners, bolted end-plate connections or column base plates maintain elastically opposite flange out-of-plane rotations and thus induce substantial restraints. This paper proposes analytical formulations for evaluation critical bending moment beams taking into account restraints Assuming series displacement rotation fields containing one two terms, energy method permits to derive expressions under constant linear distribution moment. A single expression coefficient kw proposed whatever shape diagram. The factor C1 can be conveniently calculated by multiplying coefficients that depend on diagram restraint stiffness, respectively. Finite Elements analyses with supports have been performed considering a beam element model developed LTBeamN shell created in ANSYS. good agreement numerical results obtained finite models.

Generalized Warping In Flexural-Torsional Buckling Analysis of Composite Beams
The finite element method is employed for the flexural-torsional linear buckling analysis of beams of arbitrarily shaped composite cross-section taking into account generalized warping (shear lag effects due to both flexure and torsion). The contacting materials, that constitute the composite cross section, may include a finite number of holes. A compressive axial load is applied to the beam. The...

متن کاملLateral Torsional Buckling of Steel Thin-Walled Beams with Lateral Restraints
Metal thin-walled members have been widely used in building industry. Usually they are utilized as purlins, girts or ceiling beams. Due to slenderness of thin-walled cross-sections these structural members are prone to stability problems (e.g. flexural buckling, lateral torsional buckling). If buckling is not constructionally prevented their resistance is limited by buckling strength. In practi...
متن کاملThermal Buckling of Functionally Graded Beams
In this article, thermal stability of beams made of functionally graded material (FGM) is considered. The derivations of equations are based on the one-dimensional theory of elasticity. The material properties vary continuously through the thickness direction. Tanigawa's model for the variation of Poisson's ratio, the modulus of shear stress, and the coefcient of thermal expansion is considered...
متن کاملThermomechanical Buckling of Temperature- dependent FGM Beams
Functionally graded materials, as a branch of new materials, have attracted increasing attention in recent years. A survey in the literature reveals the existence of wealth investigations on analysis of functionally graded material beams. Among them, Kang and Lee [1] presented explicit expressions for deflection and rotation of an FGM cantilever beam subjected to an end moment. Considering the ...
